Top finishes for XC in McGregor

The Bulldog cross country teams traveled to McGregor on Saturday and ran some of their best races this year. The Burnet boys team captured an overall team gold taking first place with 44 points while competing against eight teams. Second place went to Rockdale with 56 points, followed by Gateway in third, 86; Waco Connally in fourth, 100; Clifton, fifth, 112; China Spring, sixth, 118; Thrall, seventh, 146; and Waco Live Oak, eighth, 207.

Individually the Dawgs captured the top two finishes with Hudson Bennett taking first and Andy Urista claiming second. Also finishing in the top 10 for Burnet was Carlos Olivera who placed ninth individually.

Burnet’s girls also competed very well in McGregor. As a team they combined for 58 points which earned them an overall second place finish. Waco Live Oak won the meet with 37 points, Gateway took third, 65; China Spring, fourth, 90; Clifton, fifth, 107; and Waco Connally, sixth, 157.

Rose Flores finished in the top 10 for the Lady Dawgs claiming eighth place individually.

BHS Girls

Rose Flores, sixth, 13:20.7; Autumn Stires, 11, 14:06.8; Carolina Rojas, 12, 14:09.2; Brynn Holland, 15, 14:2.5; Cierra Blunt-Culpepper, 19, 14:31.1; Zoe Nicholl, 20, 14:36.6; Juliana Suazo, 22, 14:39.8; Haylie Bartlett, 14:55.8; Lainey Rye, 33, 15:10.6; Halaina Rojas, 47, 16:18.5.

The cross country teams have one meet left before district. The Bulldogs are schedule to run on Thursday, Oct. 15 at the Hewitt Kiwanis Midway meet at the HOT Soccer Complex.

The District 19-4A meet is set for Monday, Oct. 26 at Jarrell High School.
