A Burnet County man is fighting for his life after being shot by a suspect in a personal property dispute at his residence in a remote area of the county, according to the Burnet County Sheriff's Office.

The 911 call came into dispatch about 2:20 p.m. Dec. 22 regarding a shooting at a dwelling in the 5000 block of West 29 outside Burnet (toward Buchanan), the report stated.

Investigators reported that Charles Lawrence Farrell, 62, of Burnet County shot a nearby resident, a 45-year-old man, who confronted him at his property.

“Mr. Ferrell was on his porch, and our victim showed up. An argument ensued,” BCSO Capt. Tom Dillard said. “The suspect stated that the victim was advancing on him, and he was in fear for his life.

“He fired his pistol a number of times.”
