Burnet Fire Department staff gathered to sell t-shirts to help raise funds for Corden Fidler and his father, former firefighter Mathew Fidler, at Corden's Cause, a fundraiser organized to help the family cover medical expenses following a shooting which seriously injured Corden and killed his mother and grandmother in December. Barbecue plates were also served at the fundraiser, and guests enjoyed live music, auctions, and bounce houses in support of Corden.

Burnet County residents can eat barbecue for Corden's Cause this weekend.

A barbecue fundraiser for four-year-old Corden Fidler and his family is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, to assist with medical and travel costs.

Corden, son of former BFD firefighter Mathew Fidler, was seriously injured after a shooting which killed his mother and grandmother, Shelly Fidler and Sherry Gray, in Temple on Dec. 20.

Corden was shot five times, once in his head and four times in his abdomen, and has endured multiple surgeries to continue fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit at McLane Children's Hospital in Temple.

“Corden is doing pretty good,” Mathew Fidler said Thursday, Feb. 28. “It's pretty amazing; medically speaking, he shouldn't be alive.”
