Dawgs earn 24-4A District Championship

It didn’t happen in quite the way the Bulldogs had hoped for, but nonethe- less the Dawgs earned the No. 1 spot in District 24-4A after finishing 8-2. It’s difficult to put the final two games into words for Burnet. After building an 8-0 record in district the Dawgs had two home games left on the schedule to close out district play and sail into the playoffs.

Swimmers compete at 4A State Meet

Eight Burnet swimmers advanced their season all the way to state and competed well last Thursday and Friday at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio. Those athletes included Graciela Lara Duran, Brynlie Tappe, Caroline Lunsford, Emma Collins, Jack Milliorn, Grant Roberts, Stellan Zollitsch, and Levi Kleen.

The streak continues, Dawgs 7-0

The varsity Bulldog basketball team just keeps knocking them down and maintained their top spot in District 24-4A play last week with wins over Gateway and Jarrell. The two games were the firsts for round two and the Dawgs moved their district record to 7-0 with the back-to-back victories.

Soccer earns more district wins

Burnet’s soccer teams played Jarrell on Tuesday night for continued district play. The boys’ games were held in Burnet with the JV team taking to the field first. Sebastian Mendez scored two goals for Burnet and team green held on for a 2-1 win.

Swimmers sending eight to state

Burnet’s Green Wave swim team competed at Regionals over the weekend and after Sunday’s call-ups were released eight swimmers had punched their tickets all the way to state. In swimming, the top two swimmers from each district automatically advance to state, followed by the next eight fastest times from across the state.

Best Bulldog moments of 2023

The BCISD athletic program enjoyed many successful sports moments in 2023. Several individuals advanced all the way to state, school records fell, and many of Burnet’s teams enjoyed playoff runs. While there are some changes on the horizon in Burnet sports it’s widely believed that more success is on deck for 2024.

Lady Dawgs cruise through LRA Tournament, 5-0

When the varsity Lady Dawg basketball team began play last week, they had a 2-4 overall record after facing some pretty talented teams to open the season. The girls quickly flipped the script with six-straight wins between Monday and Saturday, including a home victory over Hutto followed by a tournament sweep at Little River Academy.
