On June 4, from 5-9 p.m., the Highland Lakes Squadron of the Commemorative AirForce (CAF) will host Wine, Wings, and Wheels: A Celebration of Freedom at Kate Craddock Field Airport in Burnet, Texas.

Attendees will enjoy live music by the Decades provided by 7 Creeks Vineyard with wine available for purchase by the glass or bottle, exclusive temporary exhibits in the Highland Lakes Air Museum, weapons demonstrations, classic cars, military vehicles from the Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association, and more. Artists In Arms, a non-profit dedicated to the encouragement, growth, and promotion of Veteran artists and artisans, will be in attendance with several veteran artists and Sgt. Bubbles, their unique project ArtCar. Texas Heat Cateringand D’s Shaved Ice House are just two vendors who will offer tasty treats, beer, and goodies.

Tickets are available throughout the evening for $10, and all proceeds benefit the CAF Highland Lakes SquadronWWII Aircraft & Museum. Attendees will even have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to ride in the Squadron’s SNJ-4. The plane will take off twice during the evening at 6 and 7 PM. All rides, purchased or won,are subject to availability and weather conditions permitting.

About the CAF’s North American T-6/SNJ Texan:

The AT-6 advanced trainer was one of the most widely used aircraft in history. 19,757 Texans were built between1938 and 1945. The AAF procured 10,057 AT-6s; others went to the Navy as SNJs and to more than 30 Allied nations. Production continued in Canada until 1954. The T-6 based in the Highland Lakes Squadron hangar is theNavy version known as the SNJ-4. The aircraft is owned by the CAF. It came off the assembly line in 1943. Its operational history is currently being investigated.
