Things ended much better than they started for Burnet softball last week. The Lady Dawgs were on the road for both district games traveling to Lampasas on Tuesday and Jarrell on Friday.

The 2024 TISCA All-State Swim Team list was recently released, and Burnet had a number of athletes earn selection. The list is composed of the fastest times from all meets across 4A and below for the 2023-24 season.

For the first time in over a month the Bulldog baseball team suffered a loss on Friday night. Last week’s district series featured Burnet versus Gateway. The Dawgs beat the Gators in the first round of district play on March 14, 9-1.

The Burnet County 4-H Rifle Team is savoring the success of two major accomplishments to add to its spring season. The second team from Burnet County 4-H finished 9th in the state and consists of younger athletes.

It’s been nothing but a fantastic start for Bulldog baseball who added another five wins last week to bring their season record to a healthy 9-1. The Dawgs kicked things off with a 22-0 beatdown of Llano on Monday night. Burnet posted 16 hits in the no-contest victory.

The Bulldog track teams competed at Marble Falls on Thursday and despite some cold weather conditions several of Burnet’s boys earned medals. Overall, the varsity Bulldogs combined to take second and the JV finished sixth.

The Lady Dawg track teams competed at Marble Falls last week for their second meet of the season. The varsity girls placed sixth as a team while the JV girls took fourth.

The Lady Bulldog powerlifting team had an incredible day at Regionals on Friday and not only qualified three lifters to advance to state but also finished third as a team overall. The Lady Dawgs totaled 33 team points for the bronze finish. Taylor took first with 35 points and Waco La Vega finished second also scoring 35 points.

Regional dates are fast approaching for powerlifting and Burnet’s lifters participated at the San Saba Invitational last week in an effort to improve their totals. It was a successful meet for the Bulldogs who entered 13 girls and 12 boys in the meet.
