The Capital Area Rural Transportation System plans to offer free rides to and from voting locations during the early voting period Oct. 24 to Nov 4, as well as during Election Day Nov. 8. CARTS provides advance reservation, shared ride van service with its Country Bus system to thousands of Central Texas customers.

Sixty mini-buses and vans operate this flexible general public, elderly and disabled paratransit service throughout the region.

To protect the safety of passengers and operators social distancing and face coverings are required on CARTS services.

CARTS buses operate from eight transit stations located strategically throughout the CARTS District, which are also Greyhound stations.

These stations are located in Austin (Plaza Saltillo), Bastrop, Round Rock, Georgetown, Taylor, San Marcos, Smithville, Marble Falls and our new Headquarters in Cedar Creek.

CARTS delivers transportation tailored specifically for each of the one hundred and sixty nine communities it serves and provides predictable connections between these communities to the national intercity bus network, to Capital Metro services and to the metropolitan center of the region. The service frequency in or to the various locales range from many times a day to once a month. Established in 1978, CARTS is the longest serving public transit agency in the region, and has a reputation for innovation, a practical approach to problem-solving and promoting partnerships to achieve its objectives of furthering regional mobility.
