UPDATE: The Burnet City Council candidate forum for Tuesday, April 20, has been canceled due to a lack of participation by all candidates.

Upon learning that at least two of the four candidates on the ballot could not attend, the Burnet Chamber of Commerce decided to cancel the forum, which will not be rescheduled.

The Burnet Chamber of Commerce and the Burnet Bulletin will co-host a local candidate forum for Burnet City Council candidates at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the Sylvester H. Reed Building, 403 E. Jackson, Burnet.

The City of Burnet will elect a mayor and three council members during the Saturday, May 1 election. While incumbent Mayor Crista Goble Bromley is running unopposed, there are four individuals seeking the three available seats on the council — incumbent Cindia Talamantez, Joyce Laudenschlager, Ricky Langley and Glen Allen Gates.

The four candidates will have a chance to state their qualifications and answer questions from the audience during the forum.

Also, Burnet CISD Superintendent Keith McBurnett will speak briefly about the district’s 2021 bond election, also to be held Saturday, May 1.

Early voting for the election will be held at the Burnet AgriLife Extension Auditorium, 607 N. Vandeveer St., Burnet, and the Marble Falls Courthouse Annex, 810 Steve Hawkins Pkwy., Marble Falls, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 19-21, April 23 and April 27 and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 22 and April 26.
