County Democrats host candidate for party chair

The Burnet County Democratic Club will host Kim Olson, candidate for Texas Democratic Party Chair, at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 11:30 a.m. via Zoom.

Olson is a retired USAF Colonel and the founder of Founder WomenWin, a political action committee that funded, trained and supported over 100 Texas women candidates.

“Kim Olson is a bundle of energy, super organized and has great new ideas to promote the Democratic Party in Texas,” said Mary Thompson, BCDC Vice President. “I encourage all to attend this meeting to get to know Kim and hear her plan to elect Texas Democrats from the ground up.”

Olson is a 25-year combat veteran, a trailblazer in the first generation of female military pilots and a staunch advocate for Democratic values. She has experience running for office at the local, state and federal levels and is dedicated to helping Democrats get elected in Texas. Olson plans to engage rural voters in real conversations, ensure Democrats have resources to implement a strategic plan and prioritize building the state party from the grassroots. Olson currently resides outside Mineral Wells, where she works to train the next generation of political leaders, fundraises for candidates and teaches on her sustainable ranch, growing organic pecans and fruit next to the Brazos River. “Kim Olson is a strong

“Kim Olson is a strong leader and a great motivational speaker,” said BCDC President, BJ Henry. “We’re holding this first meeting of 2022 on Zoom due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in our area but will return to the hybrid Zoom and in-person meeting format as soon as we can.”
