District recaps 2021 student, staff highlights

The BCISD Board of Trustees met to recognize the first semester accomplishments of students and staff at the regular board meeting on Monday, Dec. 13.

Superintendent Keith McBurnett applauded what Burnet students have managed to do before the Christmas break.

“These accomplishments are evidence of our commitment as a district to be the very best at everything we do in the classroom and outside the classroom,” he said in a statement to the Burnet Bulletin. “These ac complishments also represent hours of practice and preparation on the part of our staff and our students.”

Accolades and accomplishments included:

• Seniors Sydney Shaffer and Jaxon Gonzales were recognized as Burnet High School Students of the Month;

• Seniors Catherine Crow, Madelynne Jones, Shelby Wagner, Kayla Gillaspie, Kirstyn Reyes, and Rylee Hernandez were named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Volleyball Team;

• The Esprit de Corps was formally recognized for competing at the UIL State Marching Competition for the second year in row;

• Senior Jordon Erickson, senior Kori Gililand, junior Coyt Barrow, junior Coen Champeau and sophomore Braelyn Summers were recognized for being named Reserve National Champions of BBQ at the World Food Show in Dallas; and

• Brett Maynard, first place, Jasmine Perez Huerta, second place and Teagan Pelayo, third place, of Bertram Elementary were recognized for their BCISD Christmas card designs.
