James (Jim) William Holder, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 19, 2023. Jim was born on August 25, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana to James Robert Holder and Helen Havicus Holder. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: James Douglas Holder, grandparents: James Lewis and Amanda Glass, son-in-law: ET Simpson, father-in-law: JR Fish.

Jim was a loving husband, father, papaw, and brother. Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years: Jan Fish Holder, Children: Michael Holder and wife Bobbie, Caroline Simpson and late husband ET, Steven Holder and wife Pat, David Voorhies and wife Elaine, Susan Rimpel and husband Mike, Brian Holder and wife Amie, and Levi Holder and wife Liz. Brothers: Gene Holder and wife Beatrice, Richard Holder and wife Linda, Bob Holder, Eddie Holder and wife Marie, and Doug Holder and wife Wanda. Jim was a loving Papaw to 25 grandchildren: Damon Adkins, KateLynn Holder, Myshell Holder, Shelley Schmidt and husband Jimbo, Joyce Dean and husband Tim, Kaycee Andrews and husband Jacob, Elissa Simpson, Jamie Fontenot and husband Jason, Chelsey Holder, Tamara Holder, Andrew Holder, Aislyn Holder, TeeJay Hernandez and husband Rafael, Mercedes Voorhies, Carolita Asumen and husband Levi, Harley Voorhies, Amanda Voorhies, Arielle Voorhies, Seth Rimpel and wife Baylee, Shae Rimpel, Sara Rimpel, Macie Holder, Myles Holder, Graham Holder and Ezra Holder. He was blessed to have 19 great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter. Jim is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Jim grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he attended Mary Carroll High School being a member of the first graduating class in 1959. He then enlisted in the US Navy from 1959-1962, stationed in San Diego, CA. After discharge from the Navy, Jim moved his family back to Texas where he worked at NASA, then joined the family company, Holder and Holder Refrigeration. In the mid 70s, Jim left the family business and began his career as the president of construction for Whataburger until the early 90s. At that time Jim pursued his dream of land development and construction all over the state of Texas and the Hill Country until the late 2000s. Jim had incredible work ethic, semi-retired he decided to get his real estate license to buy and sell real estate for fun. He was honored as the rookie salesman for Century 21.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting and fishing as well as being a gun collector. Jim loved sharing his journey and love for the Lord with all. His family, especially his grandchildren were the light of his eye.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in his honor to The Alzheimer’s Association.

A special thank you to the staff at UT Health in Athens for their kindness and care during Jim’s last days.

There will be a visitation at 1:00pm prior to the service at 2:00pm at FBC of Burnet on Thursday March 23, 2023. Burial will be at Lakeland Hills immediately following.
