Timothy Burns (Tim) Erskine 75, eldest son of the late Rev. David W. and Barbara Burns Erskine was born in Salem, Oregon April 8, 1947. He started grade school in Salem and attended Burnet Elementary School during his third grade year after a family move to Texas. He attended high school at Austin High in Austin, Texas for two years and graduated from Rockdale High School in 1966 where he played on the baseball team and was Assistant Drum Ma-jor of the band his senior year. Tim briefly attended college at University of Texas Arlington before enlisting in the United State Navy. He served honorably as a radio operator on diesel and nuclear submarines from 1967 - 1970 during the Vietnam War. After his enlistment he did brief stents at both East Texas State University and North Texas State University, where he majored in music specializing on the drums. Tim entered the working world in a variety of employment in the mid-70s in the Dallas, Texas area and during the 1980s in the greater Los Angeles, California area. Burnet locals may remember him from his time working at Seven-11, HEB, and Seton Highland Lakes before he retired.

A devoted son, Tim moved to Burnet from Glendale, California in 1994 to take care of his ailing parents. Tim never married and had no children.

During his youth he participated in the Boy Scouts of America earning his Eagle Scout Badge in 1964. Tim enjoyed drumming and his Scottish heritage participating with the Austin Pipe and Drum Corps on the marching snare. Tim had a strong Christian faith, professing Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He attended Epiphany Episcopal Church in Burnet for many years, singing in the choir and helping where he could.

Tim died of natural causes on February 21, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. David and Barbara Burns Erskine, brother Peter David Erskine, and brotherin- law Joe Wayne Cleveland.

Tim’s affable teasing nature and high intellect will be remembered by his surviving siblings, Sarah Erskine Cleveland of Rockdale, John Paul and Mary Helms Erskine of Burnet, Martha Kathryn Caskey of Georgetown, two niec-es, five nephews, numerous great and greatgreat nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
