Girl Scout elves gather donations for troops

Kingsland Girl Scout Troop 40010 recently collected items such as carabiner clips, cookies, Christmas candy, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hand warmers, chapstick, beef jerky sticks, drink mixes and wipes.

The girls collected items for about three weeks before stuffing the stockings.

“They love doing anything for our soldiers. We recently had a lesson at the beginning of November about Veterans day and had a couple of female Veterans come talk to them,” said Arlett Long. “The girls then decided as a troop to stuff the stockings.”

They surpassed their a goal of 30 and reached 40 total. The stockings have been mailed for delivery.
