Our first day of summer will arrive on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 5:44 p.m. EDT. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, this marks the longest day of the year (a little over 14 hours of daylight) and the moment when the sun reaches the Tropic of Cancer, its northernmost point. In contrast the first day of winter this year will be Dec. 21, which will have a little over 10 hours of daylight.

Fourth of July

Bertram’s Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) will once again give us a great fireworks display on Saturday, July 4 at the Bertram ball fields.

The festivities begin around 8 p.m., and the fireworks start at dark. Normally members of BVFD go door to door collecting donations. Chief Bobby Huffstuttler has announced that this will not happen this year in order to reduce person to person contacts because of the pandemic. Instead, Chief Huffstuttler requests that you mail your donation checks to P. O. Box 248, Bertram, TX.
