What started as a tragedy for one family and a tense couple of days for the Tow community has ended in the arrest of two suspects accused of shooting and killing a father in son in their driveway.

The events unfolded on Saturday, Jan. 14 in the 100 block of Airport in the Llano County community. Tow is located about 35 miles northwest of Marble Falls.

Llano County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at 4:49 a.m. that morning “in reference to multiple gun shot victims,” according to a statement from the agency.

“Upon arrival, responding deputies found two males in the driveway of the residence, both with gun shot wounds,” the statement continued.

Preston Wessling, 38, and Evan Wessling, 14, a father and son discovered outside their home, were pronounced dead at the scene by Llano County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Lisa Simpson.

Authorities are trying to determine if an initial report of gun shots at 1:07 a.m. is connected to the case.

During the onset of the investigation, authorities asked for the public’s help in tracking down the culprit(s).

Two days later on Monday, Jan. 16, in the early morning hours, local law enforcement with the assistance of DPS troopers and Texas Rangers announced the arrest of two suspects in Guadalupe County. The area is nearly two hours away, northeast of San Antonio.

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office coordinated the arrest of 19-year-old Kyler Nathaniel Allen and 19-year-old Jordan Eric Ostrander in the deaths of the victims. The suspects were located at a residence on Arrow Hill Road in Northern Guadalupe County, that agency reported.

Members of the Guadalupe County SWAT team, with standby agencies including the Seguin and San Marcos police departments, executed the warrants and took Allen and Ostrander into custody without incident.

The two men face capital murder charges and are being held in the Guadalupe County Jail. Information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting are pending.
