Burnet County appraisals hit record $12.88 billion

Certified market value of real estate property in Burnet County topped a record $12.88 billion this year, according to records from the Burnet Central Appraisal District.

BCAD chief appraiser Stan Hemphill released certified values for all of the taxing entities in Burnet County this week in accordance with state law.

The certified market value of Burnet County property for 2021 is more than $12.88 billion, up more than $1.65 billion from the $11.228 billion certified for 2020. Once homestead exemptions are taken into consideration, the taxable value for property in 2021 is more than $8.815 billion, up more than $1.274 billion from the $7.541 billion certified for 2020.

Of the $8.815 billion in taxable value for 2021, just a little under $2 billion is frozen due to the over 65 exemption, leaving an adjusted taxable value of nearly $6.739 billion, up more than $1.06 billion from the 2020 adjusted taxable value of $5.676 billion.

Burnet CISD

Burnet Consolidated ISD’s 2021 certified property market value is just under $6.06 billion, up more than $900 million from $5.16 billion in 2020. After any exemptions are taken into consideration, that amount drops to about $3.61 billion in taxable value for 2021, which is up $780 million from the 2020 taxable value of $2.93 billion.

Of the $3.61 billion in taxable value for 2021, some $739.8 million is frozen due to the over 65 exemption, leaving an adjusted taxable value of nearly $2.85 billion, up more than $590 million from the 2020 adjusted taxable value of $2.26 billion.

City of Burnet

The City of Burnet has a 2021 certified market value of $924.3 million, up more than $94.6 million from $829.7 million in certified market value in 2020. After any exemptions are taken into consideration, that amount drops to almost $632 million in taxable value for 2021, which is up $58.5 million from the 2020 taxable value of $573.5 million.

Of the $632 million in taxable value for 2021, some $150.7 million is frozen due to the over 65 exemption, leaving an adjusted taxable value of almost $477 million, up nearly $46 million from the 2020 adjusted taxable value of $431 million.

City of Bertram

The City of Betram has a 2021 certified market value of nearly $151.5 million, up more than $22.9 million from $128.6 million in certified market value in 2020. After any exemptions are taken into consideration, that amount drops to $132.8 million in taxable value for 2021, which is still up $16.4 million from the 2020 taxable value of $116.4 million. Bertram does not have an over 65 exemption and the adjusted taxable value is $131.7 million.

Lampasas ISD

Lampasas ISD’s 2021 certified property market value for the portion of land in Burnet County is $550.9 billion, up more than $75.7 million from $475.2 million in 2020. After any exemptions are taken into consideration, that amount drops to $148.2 million in taxable value for 2021, which is still up $21.7 million from the 2020 taxable value of $126.5 million.

Of the $148.2 million in taxable value for 2021, some $30.2 million million is frozen due to the over 65 exemption, which along with other exemptions, leaves an adjusted taxable value of about $116.4 million, up $16.4 million from the 2020 adjusted taxable value of $100 million.

Central Texas GWCD

Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District’s 2021 certified property market value is $12.88 billion, up $1.65 billion from $11.23 billion in 2020. After any exemptions are taken into consideration, that amount drops to $8.81 billion in taxable value for 2021, up more than $1.27 billion from the $7.54 billion certified for 2020. The groundwater conservation district does not have an over 65 exemption.

Kingsland MUD

The part of the Kingsland Municipal Utility District located in Burnet County has a 2021 certified market value of just under $431.2 million, up more than $76.7 million from $354.5 million in certified market value in 2020. After any exemptions are taken into consideration, that amount drops to $418.3 million in taxable value for 2021, which is still up $70.2 million from the 2020 taxable value of $348.1 million.

Kingsland MUD does not have an over 65 exemption. The 2021 adjusted taxable value is more than $414.4 million.
