GOP to host candidate forum

The Burnet County Republican Party will present the Burnet County Candidates Forum 6 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Burnet Community Center, 410 E. Jackson St.

Before the forum begins, doors will open 5 p.m. for attendees to “mix and mingle” with the candidates.

The Republican Party primary election is slated for March 5. Various local Republican candidates opposing each other for nomination have been invited to address the public during the forum including: Marie Primm, Perry Thomas for 33rd Judicial District Attorney; Susan Allen, Adrienne Feild, Deanne Fisher for County tax assessor-collector; Garry Adams, Donald Brian Knowles, Pct. 2 county constable; and Caleb Carrasco, Chad Collier, Homer D. Will, Joe Rosser and Cord Woerner, Pct. 3 county commissioner.

Republican candidates for national and state offices have been invited to address the public in person or send a brief video. They will be unavailable for questions.

Local voters need to keep in mind key deadlines are fast-approaching for participation in the March 5 primary elections.

According to the Burnet County Elections Administration:

GOP… • Feb. 20 is the first day of early voting.

• Feb. 23 is the last day to apply for a ballot by mail (received not postmarked).

March 1 is the last day of early voting.

• 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 5 is the last day of early voting by mail (if the carrier envelope is not postmarked) or 5 p.m. March 6 (if the carrier envelope is postmarked by 7 p.m. at the location of the election on Election Day (unless overseas or military voter deadlines apply).

Polls are scheduled to open for early voting 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 22, 29 in Burnet at the AgriLife Auditorium, 607 N. Vandeveer; in Bertram at the Community Center, 340 S. Gabriel St.; in Granite Shoals at the Community Center, 1208 N. Phillips Ranch Road and in Marble Falls at Texas Tech, 806 Steve Hawkins Parkway.

Also, early voting is planned 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 24, 26, 27, 28 and March 1 in Burnet at the AgriLife Auditorium.

Too, early voting is planned 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 20, 21, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28 and March 1 at all locations.

Also, early voting is scheduled 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 in Burnet at the AgriLife Auditorium.
