The Lady Bulldog basketball program opened 19-4A play on Tuesday versus Jarrell and all three teams produced convincing wins.

The freshman kicked district play off with a 40-21 victory to move their record to an impressive 11-1, 1-0 mark. The JV followed suit with a big 52-25 win, that makes their current record 7-5, 1-0. The varsity lady Dawgs completed the sweep with a 51-28 win. They are 14-1 and now 1-0 in district play.

In the varsity contest Jarrell kept things close for the first half of the contest. After one quarter it was 11-10 Burnet. The Lady Dawgs did earn a little separation before the break thanks in big part to the shooting of Sydne Massoletti and their work from outside the arc. Massoletti hit a threepoint bucket in the second, went two of two at the line, and added two other two-point field goals. Makenna Gilmore also swished a long range shot as did Haley McHam giving Burnet 15 in the second. Jarrell posted seven points and at the break Burnet led, 26-17.

The Lady Dawgs used five shooters in the third to add a dozen more points to their total. The girls in green also played smothering defense only allowing the Lady Cougars four points in the period.

With eight minutes to play Burnet held a 38-21 lead.

The fourth went into the books 13-7 again in Burnet’s favor resulting in a 51-28 victory for the Lady Dawgs. Massoletti shot lightsout. She led the gym with 20 points, was perfect at the line, made two-three pointers, and six other buckets.

Bennett was next on the scoring charts with nine, followed by MaeSyn gay, seven; Gilmore, five; McHam, three; Karley Denton, three; Abigail Aguillon, two; and Grace Gates, two.

All three Lady Dawg teams were off on Friday. They returned to district play on Tuesday at Salado and will be back at home on Friday when they host Taylor.
