Carolyn “Katy” Garner Gilmore born on October 18, 1942 in Lampasas, Texas and passed away at age 80 on July 24, 2023 in Burnet, Texas with her family by her side.

Katy graduated from Lampasas High School in 1961 and was a graduate of Jackson Business College.

She married William Russel “Bill” Gilmore on December 22, 1961. They lived at the Goodrich Ranch then later moved to Burnet where they worked and raised their family. Two children were born of this union: sons William Clay and Glen Russel. Katy is survived by her two sons Clay (Rhonda) of Lampasas, Glen (Holly) of Burnet, daughter Vicki (Joey) of Bur-net, four grandchildren Blayne (Brookelynn) of Montgomery, Brooklynn of Lampasas, Cole (Tiffany) of Lampasas, and Makenna of Lampasas and soon to be great-grandson, Rowan. She is also survived by one sister Henryetta Kidd of Ft. Worth, nieces and neph-ews and a host of friends.

Katy began her working career with the Lampasas Credit Bureau in 1959 until she went to work for Burnet County as Deputy County Treasure in 1973. Katy was appointed Burnet County Treasure in 1981 and was sworn in as the elected official in 1983 a position she held until her re-tirement in 1998. Katy loved spending time with her grandchildren and listening to Elvis.

Katy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years William Russell “Bill” Gilmore, parents William Henry and Hattie Garner and grandparents Sam and Pearl Carri-gan and Joseph and Lola Garner.

A memorial service will be held at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet, Texas on Friday Aug. 25, 2023 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, 2222 Wilborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219.
