January 23, 1943 — March 2, 2023

Clarence DeWayne Hyman passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2023. He will be remembered as a kind, caring man who loved his family dearly.

DeWayne was born in Llano on January 23, 1943 to Adene Warwick Hyman and Clarence H. Hyman. A true native Texan and avid football fan of the Texas Longhorns, Burnet Bulldogs, and Tarleton Texans and Dallas Cowboys.

DeWayne graduated from Burnet High School in 1961 where he received many honors through his love of football. He was awarded a four year scholarship at Tarleton State College in Stephenville. There he was a four-year letterman and received all NAIA honors. In 2021 DeWayne was recognized as Distinguished Former Athlete at Burnet High School.

DeWayne married his High School sweetheart Charlotte Lawson in 1962. They had an ongoing romance for 60 plus years. Two children were born to this marriage, Russel and Trent.

After moving the family many times, DeWayne came home to Central Texas to retire in Bertram on his happy place-a little land in the country with a few chickens, a tractor and wide open spaces.

Surviving family include wife Charlotte, sons Russel (Penny) of DeKalb, Trent (Melissa) of Sherman and grandson Kyle Conner Hyman. Also surviving are sister Doris Hyman, sisters-inlaw, brothers-in-law as well as nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Bertram First United Methodist Church March 18 at 2:00 PM. A visitation for family and friends will follow after the service.

In lieu of usual remembrances, please consider a memorial contribution to the Bertram First United Methodist Church or a charity or organization of your choice.
