John Dwayne “Coach” Wilkinson, 84, of Victoria, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

Dwayne was born in Highlands, Texas on December 19, 1938. Dwayne grew up on the family farm north of Bertram, Texas.

He graduated from Bertram High School in 1957. After graduation Dwayne worked for GMAC and attended night classes at the University of Houston. He then graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont and received his BS Degree and Masters Degree in Education.

He coached and taught Math in Yoakum and later moved his teaching and coaching skills to Stroman High School in Victoria. Following retirement from teaching/coaching, he worked as athletic director at the State Prison System in Cuero.

Dwayne is survived by his wife, Leafy Thornbrugh Wilkinson of Victoria, daughters Suzanne Wilkinson Ros-bach and husband Hal of St. Croix, and Cheri Wilkinson and grandsons Kaden and Cole McClary of Lewis Center, Ohio. He is further survived by his sister Donna Wayman and husband Sam of LaGrange, and nieces Tammy Brooks and Janita Page, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death: Grandparents Carl and Callie Carter Bertram, Parents John Arden and Ruby Claire Ber-tram Wilkinson, brother Arvid Bertram Wilkinson.

Memorial Service will be held on March 1, 2 P. M. At Northside Baptist Church, Victoria with Rev. Mickey Ewing officiating.

Burial at Bear Creek Cemetery, Bertram, Texas on Saturday, March 2nd, at 2 P. M. Dwayne’s brotherin- law, The Rev. Sam Wayman, officiating at the cemetery.
