About the time this edition hits the stands the family and I will have just finished up our long-awaited Colorado Christmas vacation.

If you live in the Hill Country a white Christmas is pretty much a dream, unless you head North. I’ll let you know how that trip went in the next edition.

Lots of All-District honors have been earned lately for both football and volleyball. You can find out the full list in this week’s edition for football. While we are proud of all the honorees, I do want to give some special recognition to some.

Ladies first, the following list of Lady Dawg athletes were named Academic All-State. In order to achieve this honor, you must maintain a 92 GPA or higher all four years of high school. Other factors included are class rank, and SAT/ACT scores.

A big congratulations to Rylee Hernandez, Kirstyn Reyes, Kayla Gillaspie, Mady Jones, Caty Crow, and Shelby Wagner. Way to go ladies, this is certainly an honor to be proud of.

The Burnet Bulldog football team recently landed 17 players on the All-District list; two of our athletes got unanimous first team votes.

BHS senior Landon Christian turned some heads with his body of work reeling in a unanimous first team receiver award.

BHS junior, Tanner O’Hair, lassoed a unanimous first team selection at his punter position.

See a complete list of Burnet honorees in this week’s sports section.

The year 2021 brought a lot of memorable moments. Each year I reflect back on the past year’s happenings for a year in review section, that’ll be coming next week.

I’ve seen a lot of special things on social media lately, but the post that bought the most smiles had to be the one of former Burnet athlete Travis Gilmore skiing down a mountain in Colorado.

He also recently posted a three-mile hand bike ride.

We see you, Travis! And the amount of work you’re putting in. You’re an inspiration, keep pushing young man, keep pushing.

It’s almost time to ring in the new year, wishing you all the best in 2022. Happy New Year Burnet Texas!

That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading the Burnet Bulletin.
