It’s realignment time for UIL sports meaning districts are going to get shaken up a bit soon. There are cut-off numbers for each division 1A-6A and where a school lands depends on their student body count. 2,225 and above puts you in the 6A category, while 1300-2224 lands you in 5A.

The 4A division is what will interest most locals and that division runs from 545-1,299. There are 193 schools in that category and this goaround Burnet, 997; Lampasas, 1,005; and Marble Falls, 1,229 meet the 4A criteria.

These surrounding schools do too, Fredericksburg, 1,035; Canyon Lake who sits at 1,091; Taylor who turned in a 986; Brownwood, 1,008; and while LBJ has 4A numbers they opted to move up to 5A.

It will be interesting to see how the district realign, but I can’t image the Bulldogs, Badgers, and Mustangs not landing in the same one.

The rivalry between Burnet and Marble Falls has always stayed active, even in different classifications, but don’t think for a second if most of the old district foes merge together once again things won’t heat up quick.

The new districts will be announced in February 2022 and implemented next fall.

Other numbers to note, 3A, 250-544; 2A, 105-249; and 104 and below is considered 1A.

Over the past several weeks we have covered lots of ground in our travels. This past weekend we were in Stephenville for a college graduation. Shout-out to Kaylyn who will make a great teacher somewhere soon.

We then traveled to Frisco to watch our son’s team, the Stephenville Yellowjackets, compete in a thrilling 38-35 state semifinals game versus Hirschi. The Jackets will now play LBJ in the State Championship Friday at 11:00 a.m.; both teams are 15-0.

Burnet’s all-district selections will be released after the state game.

As most of you know BHS has a number of former athletes who are currently playing at the next level. When we hear about outstanding accomplishments made by a former Bulldog in college we like to share that with our readers. BHS 2019 grad Paris Brinkley Kiser has been working hard at UT Dallas and her latest effort landed her in the UTD record books. Paris is one of the top players in the ASC Conference and she leads her team in scoring. What landed her in the record books was 17 free-throws in their recent game versus Sul Ross. Mrs. Kiser hit an incredible 17 of 21 shots to etch her name. Big congrats to Paris and best wishes going forward.

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading the Burnet Bulletin.
