Library genealogy room gets makeover

More than 20 attendees recently attended the Herman Brown Free Library to celebrate the grand re-opening and dedication of the Elizabeth Van Gorkhom Genealogy and History Center. The center serves dedicated family researchers and historians inside the library within a spacious area near its meeting room along the north side of the building.

Burnet County launches jail mental health program

Burnet County is launching a program that could be at or near the cutting edge of mental health working with jail inmates. County commissioners on Tuesday approved an unpaid intern program that would put a mental health worker in the county jail to work with prisoners with mental health problems.

Wildflower admirers, live music lovers, and parade enthusiasts alike, rejoice! The 41st Bluebonnet Festival returns to Burnet April 12–14. Visitors can visit over 300 vendor booths, participate in myriad activities and enjoy live music including Saturday night’s headliner Kolby Cooper. It kicks off 5 p.m., Thursday, April 11, with Family Night at Mighty Thomas Carnival on the corner of Boundary and League Streets. The opening ceremonies begin 5:30 p.m., Friday, April 12, at the courthouse square’s main stage.
