Water district mandates reductions for permit holders
Until further notice, the Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District (CTGCD) board has decided to invoke a mandatory water reduction of 15% for all non-exempt permit holders. Unanimously, the board members approved the action after they reviewed several statistical trends reported by District General Manager Mitchell Sodek and Intera Technical Consultant Neil Deeds, indicating Burnet County has descended into Stage 4 extreme drought conditions. 12/25/2024 03:00 AM

Band entertains with good cheer at library open house
The Friends of the Bertram Library hosted their annual Christmas Open House this past Tuesday. The Highland Lakes Brass Band entertained the audience with numerous Christmas carols. There were goodies to eat, lots of door prizes, and Santa was on hand to take photos with the kiddos. Cross Country team earns state honors
Five senior members of the BHS cross country team recently earned Academic All-State honors following another successful year. This award takes four years of hard work and dedication to sports and the classroom to be achieved. A student athlete must maintain a 92 or above for all four years while participating in sports to be consid-ered for the award.
