Good start for Burnet track teams
The Bulldog track teams competed in Marble Falls last Thursday to open their 2025 season. It was a good start for the Dawgs with both the varsity and JV teams performing well. The JV boys outright won their division with 184 team points. The varsity boys placed fourth overall collecting 84 points for their efforts.

Late surge earns baseball big win
The Bulldog baseball team traveled to Llano on Tuesday and earned a dominant win defeating the Yellowjackets, 18-6. Llano struggled on the mound in the top of the first and four straight walks led to the Bulldogs first score as Trey Morrow crossed the plate, 1-0.

Rotarians to roll up sleeves for bed build
The Texas Hill Country Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), an organization dedicated to building beds, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Burnet is holding its annual Donald Fawcett Memorial Day of Service the bed build was named for the long time Burnet volunteer and resident. The build will take place Saturday, March 29 at Wallace Riddell Park in Burnet, corner of Texas 29 and South Rhomberg Street starting at 9 a.m.

Despite water restrictions, TCEQ grants permit
Dear Editor We were surprised to read in the article “Groundwater district extends restrictions“ in your newspaper that the Texas Committee on Environmental Quality had approved the petition of Asphalt, Inc. of Austin Texas asking to create a rock crushing operation near Hoover Valley Park Road 4 and RR 3509 in Burnet County. I take this to mean that they found that the company would not release pollutions (dust) into the atmosphere surrounding the property and so not reduce the quality of the air in this corner of the county.

LCRA: once-a-week watering schedule on the table
With no significant rainfall and continued growth, the area’s reservoirs, at just over 51% capacity, have taken a hit in the last few months, officials say. Dist. 31 candidate aims to ‘Make America Competent Again’
I think most U.S. citizens are aware that our federal government is bloated, but now that President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency is exposing incomprehensible waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayers’ dollars, there is absolutely no doubt. Congress has dropped the ball. Our elected representatives seem to have forgotten one of their most important responsibilities – to keep a watchful eye on expenditures and guard against frivolous use of the federal taxes paid by their constituents.
