Bright week improves soccer standings
It was a great week on the soccer fields for Burnet’s teams. When it was all said and done the Lady Dawgs had taken over as the leader in District 25-4A after beating Jarrell on Tuesday and previously unbeaten in district play Gateway on Friday.

Lady Dawgs returning to the playoffs
The Lady Bulldog basketball teams had two games last week, the first a home game versus Taylor and the second a game on the road at Jarrell. Both extremely important games for the varsity ladies as the second round of district draws to a close. Burnet’s varsity earned the win over Taylor but unfortunately fell short in Jarrell on Friday. The loss to the Lady Cougars kept Burnet from owning an outright district championship. With last night’s games pending Jarrell was in the top spot at 8-1, followed by Burnet at 7-2 with one loss to Jarrell and one loss to Salado.

Dawgs powerlifting team earns gold at Llano lift
The Bulldog powerlifting team traveled to Llano last Thursday to participate in their third lift of the season. The boys’ team put together a top effort that earned three individual gold medals, four individual silver medals, and two individual bronze medals.

Big fundraiser brings in big bucks for worthy causes
It was a spectacular evening on Saturday, Jan. 25, when over 300 guests gathered at YMCA for the Highland Lakes Service League annual Chuck Wagon Chow Down auction and dinner. Participants enjoyed many activities, raffles, and live and silent auctions to support the mission. The night also included a delicious barbecue dinner catered by Pok-e-Jo’s with musical entertainment presented by Billy Scott.

Record setting week for Burnet soccer
The Burnet soccer teams have seen much success in the early goings of district competition. After a Tuesday weather delay pushed the Bulldogs game versus Florence to Wednesday the varsity Dawgs made a statement with a big 12-2 victory.
