Burnet signs five on National Signing Day
Five senior members of Burnet High School honored five student athletes last Wednesday on National Signing Day. Three baseball players, one softball player, and a cheerleader all made it official with their colleges of choice to continue their athletic careers after high school. 11/20/2024 02:18 AM

Cross Country team earns state honors
Five senior members of the BHS cross country team recently earned Academic All-State honors following another successful year. This award takes four years of hard work and dedication to sports and the classroom to be achieved. A student athlete must maintain a 92 or above for all four years while participating in sports to be consid-ered for the award. Other factors including class rank, GPA, and SAT/ACT scores are considered as well. 11/20/2024 02:18 AM

Seven Lady Dawgs earn All-State honors
Burnet’s Lady Dawg volleyball program was well represented on the recently released Academic All State list. In addition to being a student athlete, an individual receiving this honor must maintain a 92 average or better for all four years of high school. The Lady Dawgs had all seven of their 2025 seniors honored on the list. Camryn Courtney and Brooklynn Daniel both earned first team, while Addison Huffman and Laney Huffman each found a spot on the second team list. 11/20/2024 02:18 AM

Fall golf ends with four medals
Burnet’s Lady Bulldog golf team competed in their final fall tournament and went out on a high note with some outstanding finishes. Burnet’s four girls combined to shoot a team 376 which earned them an overall first place finish at the tournament. 11/13/2024 02:09 AM
Sophomore swimmer, Rhett Eaton placed fifth in the men’s 200 IM competition on Thursday. The Water Dawgs combined scores to finish second as a team.
Green Wave earns silver team medals

Burnet cross country advances to Regionals
On Tuesday of last week Burnet’s cross country teams traveled to Marble Falls to participate in the 24-4A District meet with tickets to regionals on the line. Burnet had several top performances and numerous runners set new personal best times in route to two teams advancing. 10/16/2024 02:31 AM

Sweep win for Lady Dawg volleyball
The Lady Dawg volleyball program opened second round district play last week with Tuesday night home games versus Marble Falls. Burnet swept their visiting opponent in straight-sets for all three matches. On Friday Burnet’s girls traveled to Salado and finished their week each 1-1 after all three dropped their games against the Lady Eagles. 10/16/2024 02:31 AM

It was homecoming for BHS Friday night, an evening of excitement that drew a near capacity crowd; a crowd that got more than their money’s worth. Bulldogs battle Billes for 22-15 win
Friday night the varsity Burnet Bulldog football team made their third consecutive road trip, this time to Fredericksburg, Texas. A winless, 0-3 hungry Battlin Billies team awaited the incoming 1-2 Bulldogs. 09/25/2024 02:16 AM

Hot meet at McNeil for Dust Dawgs
The soaring heat has only heightened the challenge Burnet’s cross country runners face each week. Last week, at the McNeil Invitational, temperatures rose quickly even though races were held before noon. The Bulldogs and Lady Dawgs work hard daily with conditioning for these scenarios. Head cross country coach, Kristi Jones, consistently reminds her athletes how important practice and hydration is, especially with the district races being just around the corner. In early October the runners could face a vast variation of weather so preparation is key. 09/25/2024 02:16 AM

Golf opens fall season at Meadowlakes
Burnet’s fall golf athletes opened their season last week with a round of golf at Meadowlakes. Coach Doug Messer, who will be leading the girls this season said, “The weather was nice and the girls hit the ball really well in their first outing.” 09/18/2024 03:12 AM

Tough week benefits cross country
It was a full week for the Burnet cross country program that included a hosted middle school meet that had over 700 participants, a JV meet in Salado on Thursday, and an overnight weekend stay in Mckinney for the varsity teams. 09/18/2024 03:12 AM

Lady Dawgs sweep Marble Falls in district opener
The time for volleyball district play has finally arrived and Burnet opened in a big way. In addition to their three district contests versus Marble Falls the Lady Dawgs hosted Pflugerville Weiss on Tuesday and a sub-varsity tournament on Thursday and Saturday. 09/18/2024 03:12 AM

Tennis shows tenacity through challenge
The Burnet fall team tennis squad faced an incredible challenge last week when Academy rolled into town. In their first week of play Academy won 18 matches over Lago Vista and they continued their dominance in Burnet on Thursday. Cross Country teams race at Patriots Invite
The Burnet cross country team loaded the busses at 4:15 a.m. on Saturday and headed out to San Antonio for the San Antonio Patriots XC Invite. This was a huge meet that featured over 800 runners in Burnet’s divisions. 09/11/2024 01:23 AM

Dawgs battle Vikings in opener, 23-20
In his first game as the head football coach Been Speer didn’t get the W, but his Bulldogs fought hard and gave him plenty to be proud of. The varsity Dawgs 23-20 loss to Lago Vista was a hard to swallow pill since the Vikings were able to regain the lead in the final seconds. 09/11/2024 01:23 AM

Lady Dawgs earn 10 wins in impressive week
The Lady Dawg volleyball program had a fantastic week that led to 10 program wins with just a single loss. The freshman team beat Liberty Hill Legacy Ranch on Tuesday and went 2-0 on the week with a victory over Llano on Friday. Summer break ends for BHS athletes
For the 2023-24 sports season each individual sport held their own sports awards program at the conclusion of their seasons. This gave coaches more control over celebrating their athletes and the seasons they produced. The sports awards program, normally held at the end of the school year, was replaced by these individual banquets. 08/14/2024 03:58 AM
